Every day, future spouses, couples in love and people who are preparing to celebrate their wedding anniversary come to the Zelenin & Yolkin jewelry workshop. The idea of how to make came to Russia not so long ago from Europe.

The desire to surprise a loved one, to please him and give something really worthwhile drives each of us, and to create a ring with your own hands is to give a big piece of yourself in a small piece of jewelry.

No wonder, because a master class on creating wedding rings is a symbolic and touching event, both for a couple in love and for spouses, and the opportunity to create your own individual design of rings attracts lovers of exclusive jewelry.

How to make wedding rings with your own hands - a master class

Let's start with the positive aspects of the master class on creating rings:

New opportunities

Many people think that they cannot create, for example, a gold ring with a diamond, because jewelry requires perseverance, a keen eye and titanic patience. However, the jewelry workshop "Zelenin & Yolkin" daily witnesses how even the most timid apprentices create real masterpieces with their own hands. Master the skills of jewelry craftsmanship in three to four hours? Easy!

This is a charm!

In fact, this is how guests rate the rings they have just made with their own hands. It is impossible not to appreciate such rings, and the very history of the creation of the ring remains in the memory for a lifetime.

New life for old jewelry

Often young people come to us already with their jewels, which have lost their original beauty under the yoke of "millennia". Family jewelry inherited from grandmothers and their grandmothers sometimes needs a new life. That is what their current owners think. Therefore, many come to make wedding rings from their own gold. Giving life to an old decoration that will shine with new colors is not a miracle?

A test of strength or an opportunity to prove yourself

This is exactly what lovers think when they undertake, as it seems at first, difficult work. Step by step, coping with each stage of creating the ring, the guests have inexpressible emotions: “I didn’t know that I could do that!”

Exclusive rings

This will surely please the female half more. Lovers of beautiful things that will belong to them alone - in stores you will have to pay a fortune for such an ornament, but here you can create to his sketch the most unique ring, which will definitely be executed in one single copy.

The perfect gift

Often, people who want to make a ring as a gift turn to the jewelry workshop: for their mother, loved one, best friend, their child, etc. The ring is especially expensive because it is created by hand, and the best gift is a handmade one. On the back of the ring, a commemorative inscription, date, etc. is usually made.

Time saving

It would seem that 3-4 hours, during which a master class on creating wedding rings takes place, is not so little. However, residents of Moscow know that the search for rings that both spouses will like will take much more time, and disputes over the texture and design of rings without a professional jeweler may not lead to anything at all.

Disadvantages of making DIY wedding rings

The downside of DIY ring making is that you really have to put in some effort to make the jewelry you want. Sometimes people just don't like to "bother", and it's easier for them to buy than to do it themselves. In this case, in our workshop, jewelers will make absolutely any wedding rings to order.

How is the master class

A master class on making wedding rings with your own hands in Moscow takes place in several stages:

  • After the model of the ring and the main parameters are chosen, the guests can start creating the rings.

  • The jeweler shows how to work with the precious metal and gives guests the opportunity to create a ring by themselves according to the best traditions of jewelry.

  • The prepared precious metal is melted by a burner in a crucible and mixed with a ligature to obtain the required sample and color. The alloy is poured into a cast iron mold, which gives it the shape of an ingot.

  • The finished ingot is rolled through a rolling press. This allows a rectangular bar to turn into a blank of the required product.

  • A long plate is bent into the shape of a ring, and its ends are soldered.

  • The output is an almost finished ring, which remains only to bring to perfection.

  • The product is put on the crossbar, and with the help of a textolite hammer it is given the ideal shape of a ring.

  • At the next stage, you can already deal with fixing precious stones, engraving and creating the necessary texture. After all, then the treasured ring remains only to be polished and tried on. Even seemingly simple wedding rings play with different colors and radiate the energy of the creator, warmth and atmosphere.

Do-it-yourself ring? Quite easy! A detailed master class with photos and instructions will tell how to make a ring at home. Good luck!

Ira Frid - jeweler, designer, artist. She makes amazing pieces, minimalistic, and very lively. Metal merges with wood, gold with silver to wrap around your finger in a delicate ring. Fragile twig pendants, shard earrings, drops. Dots, commas and quotes - stylish and "delicious" as I like :)

In her work, she is guided by two rules:
Simplicity will save the world!
There are no ideal forms in nature and I like it!

Ira is inspired by Scandinavia and minimalism, which defines the simple, Nordic beauty of her jewelry.

Ira equipped a real workshop at home, because working with metal obliges you to work on machines, be able to control burners and even with dental burs (!)

But it is always better to see once: Ira showed us the whole process of creating a product, in this case, a ring, from beginning to end.

"So, let's begin!
First, we collect the required amount of silver and melt it into crucibles into a common mass.

When the metal becomes liquid, we pour it into the mold. In it, the metal is fixed and instantly cools ...

Here in such a "bullet". Bullets can be different depending on what "caliber" we have chosen.

Further, in order to get closer to the shape of the ring, we need to make a strip from the "bullet". To do this, we need a Rolls machine, where the metal scrolls between two shafts. First, we level the square to the desired size in grooved shafts, and then scroll in flat shafts and get a strip of the desired thickness.

During the rolling of the metal, it needs to be annealed periodically, or, as the jewelers say, “let go”. This is done in order to remove stress from the metal and it is easier to roll further.

To get a specific ring, for example, size 17.5, we need to measure the strip of the desired size. They gave me an excellent formula that I always use: strip thickness 1.7 times 3 + ring size 17.5 times 3 = 57.6 mm (required strip length). Then we need to connect the edges and close them into a circle.

They should close very tightly, only then we can quickly and well solder the ring. We do this with a torch and solder (an alloy of silver and other metals).

When the ends are firmly fastened, we put this strange shape on the Rigle and knock to spite the neighbors on the future ring with a wooden hammer, giving it the perfect shape and the right size. And now we already have a full-fledged ring that can be put on a finger, though not very beautiful yet :) We begin to decorate it. First we throw in the bleach for 2-3 minutes and the blackness from the ring goes away.

Then we carefully work with a needle file, smooth out all the bumps and release the beauty of the metal.

Do not forget to collect silver filings, they will later turn out the same beautiful rings :)

After the file, we go to the drill and grind the ring a little more with sandpaper. And now, the ring is ready! But we have not a simple ring, but with a duck.

We scratch an approximate drawing on the ring and move on to all well-known dental burs. No, no, we won’t treat teeth yet, but they will help us make a duck.

Something like this, working with burs, we first get something similar to a duck, and then a real one. Quack quack!:)

In order for the duck to be clearly visible on our ring, it needs to be blackened. There are different ways to blacken, one of them is very simple and I use it for small details. Blackening is done with a candle and iodine. So, first you need to smoke the necessary place, and then burn it with iodine.

Let's move on to the photo report? ;)

The workshop is located at the developing Crystal plant. Since it was already getting dark, it was raining and I was late, I did not photograph it. But it is very atmospheric, so I illustrate the story with a photo from the Internet:

The plant is located near Yauza, across the river from Winzavod and Artplay. Now, when I was looking for a photo, I saw that the plant will be reconstructed: they plan to make a pleasant public space here with cafes, shops, creative offices and other things. Already last summer, fairs and festivals were held there, a lot of people visited the new place. The concept and appearance are reminiscent of the Flakon design factory, isn't it? Competition! :)

But about the factory another time, I want to go back there when the weather is better to explore a new party place;) And now let's get back to the master class, which took place in the creative workshop. It is combined with a small but nice photo studio, so there are a lot of cameras of varying degrees of vintage, paintings and paint-splattered easels. Atmospheric place!

This is how a jeweler's workplace looks like - nothing luxurious, but not only silver is processed here, but also gold and precious stones. Below is a pedal for a grinder.

First we took a small amount of silver and melted it down.

After that, the molten mass was poured into a mold, where it froze, but not firmly. In general, silver is a rather malleable metal and can be worked with for some time without a new melting.

Having cooled the resulting "sausage" in cold water, we proceeded to the run-in. It takes place in two stages: first you need to set the width of the ring (the right side of the machine), and then the thickness (the left side). You insert the sausage into the opening, twist the handle and it crawls through the hole. The running-in occurs gradually, for each of the stages there are about 30 scrolls. That is, you can’t immediately take and flatten the metal in one scroll - then it will crack and you will have to start over.

During the last scroll, you could print on the metal (it's still soft, remember?) some kind of pattern. They offered me a piece of lace, something else - I chose a leaf, because quite recently I had a ring in the form of a twig, and I decided to make this ring on a phalanx. It turned out such an eco-theme :)

After that, with the help of a thread, I measured the girth of the finger and cut off the required amount. It was difficult, because the jigsaw must be kept strictly vertical and ensure that it does not “leave” to the side. They helped me here, since this is an important stage - the saw cuts must be perfectly even in order to connect later.

Then a ring is formed from the strip around the cone-shaped stick with the help of a soft hammer. I am very focused and tense :)

Now it's time to bleach the silver in acid in order to return the original color - it darkens after being melted down.

The next stage: grinding in several ways. First, the side faces of the ring are polished with sandpaper.

Then the outer and inner sides are polished with sandpaper twisted into a drill. The ring must be held tightly, otherwise it may fly into the eye. And this is not so easy, because it vibrates strongly under the influence of a drill - it flew away a couple of times, so I preferred to take a picture of this stage :)

After that, the ring goes through the last stage of grinding on a machine with a rapidly spinning rubber "wheel". From rapid friction, the ring instantly heats up and after each touch to the "wheel" it must be lowered into cold water.

Everything, the ring is ready! It remains only to clean it in an ultrasonic bath - leave it there for 10 minutes. You can relax and wipe the sweat of zeal from your forehead :)

And here is the result!

An indescribable feeling when you yourself do some thing: now I wear this ring without taking it off - here it is, the power of handmade. So I advise you to go to the master class, it is not at all expensive. Or an option for guys: buy a certificate for MK and give it on February 14 or March 8;)

Thanks to my jewelry mentors who helped me in creating a photo report!

In the nineties, when the country was faced with such a concept as a shortage, and it was almost impossible to get something worthwhile in stores, practically no one asked how to make a ring out of wire, and no one could be surprised by such a homemade jewelry. Now this trend has moved aside, a bunch of jewelry has appeared in stores literally for a penny. But there are women of fashion who know how to make a wire ring with their own hands so that it fits organically into the image.

Necessary materials

To make this simple decoration, you will need quite a few tools and materials:

  • Any thin wire, preferably aluminum. For children's rings, you can use the one that is covered with insulating plastic.
  • Round nose pliers.
  • Scissors for cutting metal.
  • Beads.

How to make a wire ring with the inscription love

In order to make a wire ring with the inscription love on your own, you must initially have some experience with this material. With a certain skill, creating such an accessory for you will not be difficult.

By this principle, you can write almost any word. But it must be remembered that it must consist of three or four letters in order to fit on the outside of the finger.

How to make a DIY champagne wire ring

Some romantic men in a fit of feelings, when nothing is at hand but a bottle of champagne, still want to make their girlfriend happy, at least with a wire ring. In this case, they can come to the aid of the wire on which the cork of the bottle is held. The principle of making such a ring is very simple.

Ring with a bead inside

And how to make a wire ring so that it is unusual and at the same time very attractive? Most likely, those around will not leave indifferent the product in which the bead is hidden.

To make it, you will need to repeat the first points from the section "How to make a ring from champagne wire", only instead of forming a rose from the free ends, you will need to make a small spiral, put a bead on it and start randomly wrapping the free ends around it . It is necessary to achieve such an effect that the bead continues to look through the wire. But as if it would be all covered with cobwebs.

Another option is to pass the free end of the wire through the bead, set it in the middle of the ring and make a couple of turns of the wire around the bead so that it is all over the ring.

Such an accessory will be a great addition to a romantic look.

Unusual accessory: leg ring

An excellent summer decoration will be a ring worn on the leg. This accessory will look great with open shoes and boho style clothes. Here is a detailed plan on how to make a snake-shaped copper wire ring.

  1. Take a wire 10-12 cm long.
  2. Attach it to the toe on which you plan to wear jewelry, on the reverse side exactly in the center of the wire.
  3. Wrap both ends around your finger to make two turns.
  4. Remove the ring from the leg and bend one end of the wire with the help of round-nose pliers several times, imitating the tail of a snake. Cut off the excess.
  5. Using the same pliers, bend the upper end of the wire in the shape of a snake's head and wrap the free end down so that it hides under your finger while wearing the product. Trim off the excess.

Ring with semi-precious and precious stones

If you are still wondering how to make a wire ring and none of the options proposed above appealed to you, then you will definitely be delighted with this jewelry. In the event that you have some beautiful and small natural stones, you just need to turn them into a beautiful ring. It is good if there is already a hole in the stone, for example, if it is left over from another piece of jewelry. But you can just glue the stone in the center of the product. All of the original work follows the steps of making a champagne wire ring. But for this product, it is better to take a very thin copper or gilded wire and fold it not two, but three or four times. Then the free ends need to be twisted around the stone.

Beaded wire ring

Jewelry with beads looks very beautiful and gentle. To understand how to make a wire ring with small beads, it is not necessary to have experience in creating such products. All you need is to string just enough beads onto the thin copper wire so that they cover the top of your finger. Then, on one side and on the other side of this bead row, you need to make small rings with the help of round-nose pliers. Now take a small piece of wire and fasten it to the ring of the bead row, then repeat the same on the other side. Measure the product: if it fits you in size, then cut off the excess, if not, then first change the size up or down.

Wedding rings: imitation wire weaving

Interestingly, a few years ago, the world of wedding fashion was swept by a wave of wedding rings, as if woven from wire. Newlyweds invest in this accessory an individual and personal meaning only for them. But most often, such rings hint at the absence of a rigid framework within the newly-minted family. These non-standard wedding rings are chosen by girls and men who do not want to wear ordinary, strict jewelry, but want something more tender and youthful. In addition, often such accessories are made in the form of a nest, which symbolizes family.

And how to make a wire ring for a wedding with your own hands? Not many people decide to make an accessory for such an important day on their own, but you can still participate in the creation process: draw a sketch of your future jewelry and take it to the jeweler. So you are guaranteed to receive exactly the ring that you imagined.

Thus, you have learned how to make a wire ring with your own hands in stages. It's fun to experiment with this stuff, so don't just stick with the tips in this article and try something new!
