It is difficult to get up early in the morning after a sleepless night. That's what Lucy Heartfilia thought as she headed to university.
She only closed her eyes for a second, combing herself in front of the mirror, and was already almost asleep.
- Lu! - the nineteen-year-old girl heard her mother's voice.
And this voice pulled her out of the arms of sleep.
- I'm leaving for the weekend! - a golden-haired woman of about forty-five looked into the room. - So keep an eye on Michelle.
- Okay, Mom. - answered Lucy, not very pleased with this news.
But it was useless to argue.
Michelle is Lucy's younger sister, although their fathers were different. She never saw her own father, but her mother did not want to talk about him. And Lucy didn't really want to hear about him either. Michelle's father became a real father to her.
Her younger sister was almost eighteen, and still she needed an eye and an eye. And most often her older sister had to look after her.
Michelle was already finishing her tea when Lou appeared in the kitchen.
- Good morning! - Lucy said sleepily and began to make coffee for herself.
- Kind! Michelle smiled.
She was in a great mood, despite the fact that she had to go to school, and she hated school more than anything. And all because my mother left. So what if Lucy is here. She can't stop her from throwing a little party.
After finishing breakfast, Michelle left for school. Lu, too, after drinking coffee, went to class, dreaming that when she returned from the university, she would go to bed, because she went to bed only in the morning.
At the university, her friends were already waiting for her - the blue-haired Juvia Lockser, and the scarlet-haired Elsa Scarlet.
- Hey Lou! - in one voice said the girls.
Lucy just nodded in response and sat down at the desk.
- Didn't sleep again? - Elsa guessed, looking at her tired friend.
"Natsu again?" Ju asked.
- Yeah! Lucy replied, resting her head on the table and closing her eyes.
- Even I myself do not allow this with my boyfriend! Ju said softly.
Lucy heard her anyway and sighed heavily.
"How did I manage to get so involved?" thought Heartfilia.
For three months now, her friends have been thinking that she has a boyfriend named Natsu, and they believe that it is because of him that their friend does not sleep at night. Oh, if only they knew the true cause of her insomnia!
Natsu is actually a fictional character in an otome game. It's just that once, when she was asked why she didn't get enough sleep, she blurted out without thinking that it was because of Natsu. That's all and decided that this is her boyfriend, but she could not confess. The truth is, she's never even kissed. What kind of guy can be here?
In the end, everything remained the same. She couldn't admit that she was a great otome gamer. The game with the character Natsu is already in the past, but his name is still there. like her boyfriend's name.
Lucy went straight home after class. She didn't even undress and went to bed like that.
But her younger sister did not come home from school alone. Four of her classmates also came with her: Yukino, Ultear, Hisui, and Kinana.
- Don't make noise! Michelle warned them. - My sister is sleeping at this time. I don't want her to ruin the whole evening.
But they couldn't be quiet. If you talk - so loudly, if you laugh - so for the whole house.
Lucy didn't sleep for two hours. She opened her eyes with difficulty and stood up.
For about five minutes she sat on the bed and looked at the floor, trying to finally wake up. And then it dawned on her - Michelle had another sleepover party without warning her.
Lucy got up and went to her sister's room, but ran into her in the hallway.
- Did you wake up yet? Michelle was surprised.
"I don't think I let you party!" Lou said unhappily.
"I'm sorry I didn't warn you, Mom!" - quipped Michelle and walked past.
"Insolent girl!" Lucy thought, but didn't intervene.
Let's have some fun, and it's not too late yet.
The girl went to her room and began her French homework, trying not to pay attention to the loud exclamations behind the wall.
Very soon she got hungry and decided to cook something for herself. She didn’t want to bother with cooking for a long time, and she decided to quickly cook a regular salad of tomatoes, ham and corn.
But before she could begin, Michelle appeared in the kitchen. She silently took the candles from the bedside table and just as silently left.
"Well, why did she need so many candles?" - Lu was perplexed, but continued cooking.
Michelle's room was no longer so lively. One of her friends - Ultear - suggested a new game - to summon a demon. No one, of course, believed that someone would come to this call, but everyone became interested.
Ultear showed them what symbols to draw and everyone got busy with it. And Michelle brought candles.
- Not enough candles. Ultear said.
- That's all there was! Michelle handed eleven candles to her friend.
- All right, it'll do. Ultear sighed and took the candles.
She placed the candles around the diabolical symbols drawn on the paper on the table and lit them all one by one.
Then five girls stood around the table and held hands.
Ultear started to say something in Latin. No one but her understood what those words meant. Ultear was the only one who seemed to take this ritual seriously, because the others were struggling to keep from laughing. Finally, Ultear's words became clear.
- Appear, demon from the Underworld! Ultear exclaimed. - Appear and fulfill the desire of your master!
Ultear repeated those words several times. But then Hisui's laughter cut her off. The others couldn't help but laugh too.
Ultear glared at them. After all, they interrupted the ritual.
"Because of you, I'll have to start all over again!" she snorted.
- Come on, Ur! Kinana chuckled. - We had a lot of fun, but it's time to finish these devilish jokes!
- And then we really will call ... the police with the hands of our neighbors! Michelle joked
- It's a real ritual! Ultear muttered.
- Okay, let's finish the ritual and see that no demon will appear! - agreed with offended friend Michelle. - And sooner. And then my hellish sister will appear!
Ultear sighed heavily, but nevertheless began the ritual again. The girls held hands again as Ultear recited all the words in Latin.
"Just don't laugh again!" thought each of the girls.
They didn't want to provoke Ultear's wrath again.
But as soon as Ultear repeated the last phrase for the third time, she took out a sharp knife, intending to spill her blood from the palm of her hand and thus become the master of the summoned demon.
She just didn't have time to do it. As soon as she brought the knife to her palm, lightning flashed on the street, appeared out of nowhere and throughout the house, and in general, the lights went out in the whole area.
Lucy was cutting tomatoes at that moment. The light went out so suddenly that she accidentally stabbed her index finger with a knife and blood slowly flowed from it.
The light went out for only a second. But Lucy, like the rest of the girls, except for Ultear, got scared.
When the lights turned on, the girls looked at each other in fear and looked at the smiling Ultear.
- Happened! - she exclaimed. - I did say.
And then an angry Lou burst into the room. She was sure that her younger sister Michelle was to blame for what happened, not in vain, because she stole all the candles.
Lucy walked up to the table and, pointing her finger at her sister, shouted:
- What are you doing here? Decided to burn down the whole house?
A drop of blood imperceptibly fell on one of the drawings on the table. But no one noticed this, not even Ultear, and she carefully followed the ritual and its participants.
- We're not here! Michelle was outraged. - It's just a short circuit. And don't bother us.
- Party's over! All sleep! Lou said in a commanding tone. "It's getting late, so I'll let your girlfriends stay." But don't make noise!
Lou left, slamming the door. Michelle was now very angry with her sister, but nevertheless she obeyed and everyone calmed down.
Leaving her sister's room, Lucy remembered her cut. she found a bandage in the first aid kit and bandaged her finger. I didn't want to eat anymore. So she put everything back in the fridge and went back to her room. She had an assignment in Latin. But this is only the beginning of her lull. The girl rested her head on the book and closed her eyes.
Suddenly, she felt that someone picked her up, carried her to the bed, laid her down and covered her with a blanket.
Lou opened her eyes, but everything was so vague. However, she still saw a guy with an unusual hair color. But the next moment she closed her eyes again and fell asleep.
So she slept until morning, although it was usually difficult for her to fall asleep at night.
But she woke up at last awake.
Lou looked around the room and remembered that she was going to study Latin. Yes, and remember how she lay down she could not.
My stomach growled. No wonder, because for the last time she ate with her friends in a cafe. And she didn't even finish her salad, so she decided that she could finish it now and have a snack.
But in the kitchen she saw a stranger with pink hair. He sat at the table and ate a salad. The one she was going to finish now.
- Who are you? Lou was surprised.
The stranger turned to her and smiled.
My name is End! he said. - I am a demon! Your demon!

Rug, or the Tale of how important it is to be needed Natalia Kondratova

Created in the tradition of the “Christmas story”, the fairy tale by Svetlana Usacheva belongs to the works in which the things around us “come to life”. A touching, a little sad and very nice story of a rug presented for the New Year, which has lived in the house for many years, learned a lot, seen and, finally, became “old and shabby”, says a lot to a sensitive soul. Perhaps this tale is not so much “about how important it is to be needed”, but about how important it is to be loved and how important it is to remain faithful to those you love.

Still others - in dangerous situations - act in strict accordance with the survival instinct. The author of the book, Emma Hatchcott-James, spoke interestingly and lovingly about what our smaller brothers can and can do.

Summer was slowly fading away. Gloomy clouds were gathering over the small resort town of Snorist, declaring that autumn was ready to come into its own. It will soon be heavy rains that will gradually turn into snowfalls. Something, but I hated the sharply coming autumn-winter in my hometown.

I, Witta Wilchot, a recent graduate of the White Lily Academy, was sitting in my room, relaxing after a hard day's work at a small restaurant adjacent to my house. The day turned out to be just right. Despite the fact that I returned to my home only two days ago, my mother loaded me with work. Today I had to run around the city and negotiate first with a carpenter, then with a plumber. Mom started a renovation, because our old house needed renovation. It's good that it's time to go to school soon.

Summer holidays have been great. After school, I returned home not alone, but with two demons and my father. I was scared. I was sure that my mother would not listen to anyone, and would kick two demons out of the house. At first it was. Mom threw a huge tantrum, dad pretended to be a stool. But the insidious demon Ilhar managed to fool my mother's head. He, a magnificent and dangerous potion master, capable of making a potion that destroys a small country with the help of a fresh bull heart and canned spleens of mice, also turned out to be an excellent cook and proved it to his mother in two days. Since the visitors liked his desserts, my mother allowed him to stay with us, taking him to work in a restaurant. He did his job remarkably, neatly, and managed to make friends with all the kitchen workers (as I suspect, not without the help of his demonic talents). Mom quickly forgot that at first she did not want to let him into the house, and began to treat him like an old family friend. Thus, Ilhar became our neighbor. A family of demons settled in a spare room in my house.

Ilhar's son Crispo turned out to be a master of destruction. Largely thanks to his help, we had to put out fires twice, repair the roof, change the glass in the windows and convince visitors that our establishment is absolutely safe. We were saved by Farmolan, who managed to ingratiate himself with the demon and began to often take Crispo to fly under the clouds. Of course, at the moments when the Pegasus did not take the little demon, he began to get bored, stick his nose where he should not, and, of course, get into this very nose. Having received a portion of dragon fire mixed with diamond threshers from a good dad, he nevertheless understood what was not worth doing, and almost became obedient. To my surprise, the little demon learned very quickly, was able to sit still for an hour and just watch the ants build an anthill.

Soon Crispo met Meverek's nephews Melek. It became a black day on the calendar. Melek quickly realized what was happening, taught Crispo how to quietly turn pranks, and together they caused a lot of trouble to the inhabitants of our small town. Twice they even came to complain. However, Meverek threw rotten eggs at them and declared that his grandson and Crispo are angels in the flesh.

In principle, we lived as a big friendly family. My dad and I often developed interesting formulas, we also ran to swim, practiced protective and camouflage magic, played cards and chess. On the weekend, Rascor even came to us once. They disappeared with Meverek and dad for about three days, and then a message came from almost another continent that we should not worry, and that friends were celebrating their meeting too violently after a long separation. When they returned, they received hats each from their mother and from the Sibyl.

By the way, my mother and I also spent a lot of time together. However, due to the fact that she always had a bunch of things to do at the restaurant, we rarely managed to talk in a normal setting.

With the demon, as I said, my mother became friends. Ilhar, on the other hand, is all of himself - helpful, polite, fast, accurate, hardworking. And my mother constantly set him as an example to me. And I tried not to remind her once again that Ilhar is the most natural demon with the most natural demonic manners.

By the way, about demonic habits. Once, while playing cards with my dad, I heard a heart-rending scream from the kitchen. Looking at each other, my dad and I rushed downstairs. We flew into the kitchen and stopped at the threshold.

In the middle of the kitchen with a confused muzzle stood a two-meter red-eyed demon with leathery wings (which, by the way, I had not noticed before with Ilhar). He would have looked very intimidating if not for the pink apron with daisies and the white cap on his head. In its paws, the demon held a baking sheet, on which cookies were appetizingly browned.

Will you? Ilhar smiled awkwardly, handing us a baking sheet.

On the floor near his feet, we found my mother fainting. After putting her in order, we explained the situation to her. Ilhar just had a crisis of magic, his second shell still sometimes broke through, though less and less often. Soon, as the demon himself said, he will not take on a different form, since he will finally be erased from his soul.

Everyone tried to safely forget about this incident. However, something soon happened that made me think of him.

It happened on a warm sunny day. My dad and I ran away from home to go fishing. Rocking in a neat boat on the waves, we were dozing, unable to unravel the tangled threads of magic on the fishing rods. Suddenly, I felt the little crown on my neck warm up. In the next moment, pain shot through my back.

Oh no no no! I yelled, jumping to my feet.

My T-shirt was torn in the back. The father, who jumped to his feet, did not remember waking up that he was in the boat and fell overboard. Because of him, the boat staggered, I lost my balance and fell down after him. Due to the fact that my back was very sore, I was not immediately able to surface. Finally, she clung to the side of the boat.

Monster!! Get the power of my punch! - Dad exclaimed, whacking me on the head with a fishing rod.

You are crazy? I asked angrily, leaning over the side.

Ah, it's you... Why scare daddy like that?! Take away the wings.

Wings? - I was surprised. Putting my hands behind my back, I groped my back. Oh no. Hands stumbled upon two barriers. - Tell me they are covered with white feathers.

Nah, leathery and spiked. True, they are very small, you won’t fly far on such ones ... But wait a minute ... Well, didn’t you conjure them yourself?

I explained the situation to my dad. He immediately sent the boat to the shore, then dragged me to Ilhar, having previously disguised my wings.

Teach her to control the demonic essence, - he said to the demon, who was decorating the cake with strawberries with a concentrated look.

Oh, it finally appeared, - throwing a quick glance at me, Ilhar drawled. - I kept waiting for the extra energy to start pushing the body towards transformation... Well, now I'll finish the cake and help you.

It turned out that with the awakening of the demonic essence, even more energy was seething inside me than usual. It was necessary to subdue this energy, and Ilhar showed me several ways to control it. It turned out to be incredibly difficult. No matter how I tried to shove my second essence to hell, it still broke through. Most often in the form of horns, a tail with a sharp spike at the end, and scanty wings to boot. Then, when we ate kebabs, I suddenly sprouted huge fangs. All in all, I didn't like it. In addition to external transformations, my magic was also changing. Even the simplest magic could turn into a disaster. So, swimming in a lake with a waterfall, I, angry at the tricks of Crispo and Melek, froze them along with the lake, the waterfall and everyone bathing in it.

Ilkhar, scratching his head and muttering "to business!", promised to freeze my demonic essence. Very soon I had to go with my father to his laboratory for a summer practice. Therefore, I demanded from the demon everything possible and impossible, so that the magic so far unnecessary was pacified. Ilhar conjured and said that for some time I would be able to live in peace.
